Where will the year take us?
Happy New Year from all of us at Elemoments*! As educators, we tend to give the past year a summative evaluation and declare it as having been either awesome or horrid. For me, 2018 was particularly awesome. 2017 was wretched, but 2018 truly delivered on making up for it. I hope if your year was a rough one that you get a wonderful bounce in 2019. If you had a great year I hope it holds more of the same.
My dear friend Tonya is a kindergarten teacher in South Carolina. Every year she picks one word that will be her mantra for the year. This year I searched for a meaningful verse and have chosen Psalm 32:8 "I will instruct and teach you in the way you should go. I will counsel you with my loving eye on you." I'm responding to that with a big, "Where you lead I will follow!" (Book of Gilmore Girls.)
In the coming year+ my daughter will head off to study in Italy and New York with Kent State Fashion, I will turn 50 and will be looking for the way to go as I approach that milestone. If there is one thing we can count on life, it's change. Things change every day, and we have to be ready to manage and adjust to those changes, whether they are in education or in life.
Here's to finding our way in 2019!
*By all of us I mean me!
